Keeping your air conditioner in tip top condition is important to prolong the working life of your air con.
Here are some tips to help ensure your unit will perform at its best during summer.
Clean out the filters
The inside unit of your split air conditioner has a filter that helps keep the air it blows into your space clean. These filters tend to quickly collect dust, mould, bacteria, etc. You should be cleaning this filter at least once a month to avoid any build up.
Clean debris from around the outside unit
The condenser or outside unit of your air con can become surrounded by filth and debris. Check it regularly and clear away anything (e.g. rubbish) that could impact the performance of the unit.
Get your unit serviced at least yearly
No matter whether you have a split air conditioner or ducted, you should always get your air conditioner serviced by a qualified technician. While cleaning your air con, the technician may also be able to advise if any parts need to be replaced due to general wear & tear. Servicing of your air con should be done at least yearly.
Winter is the best time to get your air conditioner serviced as technicians are generally less busy during the winter months than the summer ones.
